Here I am, hard at work on a sculpture, with my former sidekick, Lola. I'm not a cat person per-se, but I miss this little lady every day.
INNOVATION IN STORY TELLING
A Jack of All Trades to Make Your Idea Come To Life
David’s passion for story telling began in his home town of Chicago, where he and his childhood friends made animated shorts & comedy videos, featuring his hand-crafted props.
A Columbia graduate in Film & Animation (Stop Motion), he began
his career working on 2D commercials by day, and completing his
first Stop Motion film by night, Vodka Monster. During this time, he balanced his delayed gratification of animating, with the immediate gratification of producing live comedy; Writing, directing, performing and making props & sets for The Second City, iO and Annoyance. Soon-after, his Alma Mater hired him to develop their Stop Motion Department, and launch their Character Acting in Animation course.
He's since gone on to Write, Direct, Produce, Animate and Art Direct for clients ranging from NBC Universal to The U.S. Department of Health. As a sculptor, his work has been featured in films, showcased in museums, sold in galleries and given as awards at festivals across the country to recipients such as Louis Black (Founder of SXSW), and the Creator of the Blaxploitation Film Genre, Melvin Van Peebles.
All the while, David has fostered community through art; As President of the Bloomingdale Arts Building: Chicago's very first artist-owned housing initiative, Founding Producer of Second City Shorts: The company's very first Weekly Short Film Festival, and as Founder of #MoStopMo: Dedicated to the very first form of animation ever put to film - Stop Motion!
In 2007, in honor of his his parents Della and Rocco, David founded Dellarocco Studios. He's proud to put the family name on everything he creates, continues to work with friends old and new, and stays true to his passion; Innovation in story telling for stage, screen & beyond!
